Floating is the practice of relaxing in a cabin filled with an Epsom salt solution. The solution is heated to body temperature allowing you to float peacefully, weightlessly and uninterrupted for 60+ minutes. It is an experience like no other, often resulting in deep relaxation and a renewed sense of well-being. Our mission is to provide a clean, relaxed and unique environment. We believe in fostering rest and recovery through the practice of floating, optimizing mental and physical well-being by reducing anxiety, depression, pain, soreness, and stress.
If you are a first-time floater, plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled float to complete one-time paperwork. Once complete, you will be asked to remove your outside shoes and be given sandals to wear while in the spa. You will be taken to your private float room, where you will be given a walk-through of the process and discuss your light and sound options.
Our float rooms are a safe, private, and relaxing environment designed with your comfort in mind. Here you will undress - you are welcome to wear a bathing suit, but most people float naked. Anything you wear will press against your body, possibly becoming a distraction. Earplugs are provided to block any water from entering the ear canal, and petroleum jelly is available to cover any cuts or scratches.
You'll start by shampooing your hair and washing your body, leaving conditioning your hair for after your float. Insert your ear plugs and dry your face before you enter the float cabin to prevent the distraction of water trickling down your face. Take the face cloth with you and hang it inside the cabin; this will be there should you splash your face with the salt water. Gently lie back and let the buoyancy of the water help you float. Let the water cushion your body and find a comfortable floating position - arms out to the side, crossed in front, whatever works the best for you.
It is a fact that floatation therapy has the potential to improve one's mental and physical health regardless of who they are or what one has been through. With sensory deprivation therapy, you can relax, recover, and feel better than you did when you came in. The body is entirely free from pressure and contact points in a gravity-free environment. It allows your blood vessels to dilate fully, lowering your blood pressure immediately and improving your body's ability to receive oxygen, red blood cells, and blood.
If you have chosen music while floating, it will end after the 60 minutes is over and a small red light will come on. We will give you time to get your bearings and make your way to the shower. All you have to do is rinse your body of the salt water and conditioner your hair if you choose. Get dressed, make your way out to the lounge area, enjoy a hot or cold beverage, and bask in your blissful, relaxed state.
