WHERE DO YOU FLOAT?

Float cabin with light blue light shining

Our Float Cabins

A float cabin, commonly used for sensory deprivation or float therapy, typically resembles a enclosed cabin. The cabin is designed to create an environment that minimizes sensory input, allowing individuals to float effortlessly in a dense Epsom salt solution. The exterior is sleek and compact, with a door that can be opened and closed for easy entry and exit.

Inside, the float cabin is filled with shallow warm water saturated with Epsom salt, creating buoyancy similar to that of the Dead Sea. This high salt concentration enables individuals to effortlessly float on the water's surface. The interior of the cabin is soundproof and lightproof, designed to eliminate external stimuli. The water and air are heated to skin temperature, blurring the line between the body and its surroundings.

Users typically enter the cabin nude, shower before the session to remove oils and lotions, and then step into the float cabin. Once inside, they can close the  door to create a private and sensory-secluded environment. The experience allows for deep relaxation, stress reduction, and potential therapeutic benefits associated with sensory deprivation. Our float cabins also come equipped with  ambient lighting, calming music options, and ventilation systems to enhance the overall floating experience. Experience float therapy in Sault Ste. Marie.

How to prepare for a float therapy experience?

For men, avoid shaving your face at least 6 hours before you float. For women, avoid shaving your body at least 12 hours before your float.

Avoid caffeine before you float. It may interfere with your ability to relax. Being hydrated is always an important component of a healthy lifestyle. Be hydrated prior to your float.

Smoking just prior to the tank may be too much of a stimulant so try to avoid that.

It is best to not have a full stomach or a completely empty stomach. Have a meal that is easier to digest approximately 2 hours before your float.

If you have small cuts please use the Vaseline provided as a barrier. The salt will not harm you and will speed up healing however it may sting.

For guests with recently coloured hair or highlights, we recommend not floating until roughly one week or more after treatment. Hair dye can bleed out or be affected by the heavy concentration of Epsom salt.
